Biography

Marian Alstad has been an artist for 45 years and an instructor for 25.

Marian has studied with national watercolor instructors, including: Zoltan Szabo, John Gaddis, Charles Sovek, Richard Yip, Judy Betts, Robert E. Wood, Christopher Schink and Barbara Nechis.

For the past 15 years Marian has led painting workshops in and outside of the United States, including Baja, MX, coastal towns of France, Italy, Hallifax, Nova Scotia, Taos and Santa Fe, NM, Ireland and Costa Rica.

She teaches students of all skill levels and is a knowledgeable and positive instructor, supporting her students one-on-one and in group critiques.

She teaches over 40 students weekly at the Edina Art Center, as well as in her home studio. On class evaluations, students consistently give her class high praise.

Marian has made art her life’s passion. She has many awards in juried shows.
