Art is my life; my love and constant challenge.

I believe that art is the most important aspect of our lives, whether one paints or sculpts, writes, dances, plays music, or merely enjoys viewing or listening. Life is greatly enriched by the involvement with all forms of art.

I am interested in the spiritual quality of my surroundings, observing nuances that most of us put aside as trivial. I find joy in discovering a new idea, shape, or texture and incorporating them into my work. My abstract paintings have drawn me further into the excitement of texture, color and pattern. These paintings offer the viewer an opportunity to become involved in it as well.

Art has kept me centered, earned me the respect of the community and has given my life direction. I began painting 48 years ago; teaching 25 years ago. I teach weekly at the Edina Art Center where I encourage students to overcome their artistic fears. My classes are always full. Each day I discover new aspects of myself through art and teaching.

I teach workshops all over the world. My students have traveled with me to Europe, Central America, and Mexico to paint and study on location. For more information go to Upcoming Workshops with Marian.
